Day 1 Dublin Championships Day one kicked off with us all breathing a sigh of relief that we are indoors due to the terrible weather. We had a total of 19 Athletes Compete in 25 events some of our athletes were competing for the first time for the club or in their event. Congratulations to them all, we are very proud of all their hard work and resilience lining up for the club in their chosen event. They are a great example to our young athletes.
Hurdles Amelie O ‘Donnell, Conor Helm and Ollie McHugh competed in u13 hurdles for their first time. Connor and Ollie made the final, Amalie was storming ahead but unfortunately had a fall but we know this amazing young athlete will be back Cillian Kelly won silver in the U16 hurdles as well as a long jump medal - see below. Tadhgh Stepheson-Wong won silver in the U19 hurdles.
200m Sprint We had 9 athletes competed in the 200m sprint. Holly Helme, Clara McMahon, Hayley Williamson competed at U16 and acquitted themselves very well. Maya Keegan had a stormer heat finishing second and only just missing out on a final place. Alex Brennan, Cillian Neilan, Kuziva Mushongera, Denzel Mugri, Tiago Domingos all competed and while not making finals achieved personal bests on previous times.
Long Jump Eva Munnelly won gold in the U18 girls with a jump of 5'06cm Tiago Domindos won gold in the U19 boys - competing for his first time and only recently starting to train for the event. Cillian Kelly won silver in theU16 boys with a PB of 5'13cm. Alex Brennan had a PB of 4'50 in the U16 boys long jump. Hayley Williamson had a person best jump coming 4th in the U16 girls 4’34 Nikolous Koukoulus had a person best jump of 4’23 in the boys U15
Shot Putt Neil Richardson won silver in the U18 Boys Shot with a throw of 11’49 / 5kg shot Holly Helme won gold in the U16 shot with a throw of 9.58’ / new weight category 3kg Alfie Hogan won gold in the U17 shot with a throw of 11.50 / 5kg shot Julia O’Connell had a PB of 7.01 in the U17 shot / 3kg
Day 2 Saturday 1st Feb was a very busy day for the club with 46 athletes competing during the day. Overall the club won 9 Medals across a variety of events.
Event Summary 1500m Oisin Hughes competed for first time for the club at U17. He finished in 4.40.55 U18 400m Cillian Neiland won Silver boys event.
Long Jump – U14 We had 4 athletes compete and one make it to the final. They all did very well and are looking forward to outdoors.
Long Jump - U13 We had 5 athletes compete across the boys and girls and all improved their jumps on the previous year. Well done to Amelie O’Donnell who won Gold with a jump of 4.25.
Long Jump U12 We had 2 boys compete in their first long jump competition and all enjoyed their experience and are looking forward to outdoors.
Day 2 Sprints All of our athletes improved their times. Flynn Falvey won gold in U12 boys Ollie McHugh won silver in BU13 sprint Jan McHugh won bronze in BU13 sprint Lucy Walsh made final of U12 G sprint which is a great achievement with over 100 athletes in the event. competed).
Day 3 Another very busy day for the older sprints and lots of field events. We had 30 athletes registered for events and the club won 3 medals Amalie O’Donnell GU13 HJ Gold Denzel Mugri BU19 Silver sprint Jessica Williamson GU13 Shot bronze
600m U12 Well done to our U12 girls and boys who competed in the 600m Alex 2.22 /Will 2’/Kurt 2.03’ Lucy 2.01.46 We had 2 athletes competing in the 800m and they had performances they are very please with. U14 Sarah 2.50.37 U15 Elouise 2.52 High Jump Boys U12 Bruno 5th 115m for his first Cabinteely competition. Girls U13 High Jump Amalie O’Donnell 130 Gold making that a double jumps gold for her across the 2 days. Sprints Well done to all our sprinters many of whome competed for their first time and really enjoyed their day out with the club. BU15 Jack made final -PB Time GU15 Hannah made semi final with a PB 8.72 BU19 All Cabinteely entrants made finals Denzel Mugri won silver BU19 sprint
